Effect of Water Injection on Turbine Inlet under Different Flight Conditions

Numerical simulations were conducted to research the pre-cooling effects of water injection on turbine inlet a turbine-based combined cycle (TBCC) engine under different flight conditions. Then, performance pre-compressor cooling (WIPCC) was calculated by mathematical modelling with air ratios (WAR). It first time that mass field TBCC simulated, and it also subcomponent assessed. The calculation results showed relationship temperature respect WAR, length Mach number. strategy for flow proposed in order meet requirements pre-cooling. When 10 times diameter exit, could be cooled 167.5 K WAR = 0.09. highest evaporation ratio reached at 93%. Finally, revealed water-pre-cooled engine, which envelope expanded Ma3.0 from Ma2.3 thrust as well specific impulse significantly improved. 0.9 characteristic meeting mode transition requirement working speed spectrum.
